Mater Ecclesiae School
A Catholic school, is rooted in the Spirit and Charism of the Institution of Sister of Mary, Mother of the Church. The school sees itself as an accredited Catholic Institution Charged with the production of intellect, simplicity and the joy of living with God. The school thus becomes the seedbed of competent leaders nurtured by competent staff in a familial, social and religious environment.
Mater Ecclesiae Preparatory School, MEPS now Mater Ecclesiae school (MES), was established by the Sisters of Mary, Mother of the Church-a local Institution of Sisters in the Catholic Diocese of Ho in 1993. The school is located at Sokode Gbogame in the Ho Municipality. The school was started with 30 kindergarten pupils comprising 20 girls and 10 boys in the Sisters Convert precisely Madonna House.
Our Goal And Objectives
The objective for the establishment of the Primary School was to help give the children within the local community a higher educational standard because the academic standard of public schools in the rural areas were gradually falling compared to those in the urban centers. The results of pupils in the rural areas were most often very poor because of lack of effective teaching and poor learning environment. This gave the rise to many drop outs in our community after the Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE).
Some parents even now do not take good care of their children at their tender ages before sending them to school. All they do is to give money to the children to find their own food as they themselves go about their own business hence the malnutrition and truancy, in some cases, resulting in immoral lives of some children, increase in waywardness and teenage pregnancy in the rural areas among others
In order to cater for these pressing needs; the Sisters saw the need to establish a boarding school to offer the children in the rural areas the opportunity to have a better education and to give them good moral training both socially and spiritually.
The Mission for Mater Ecclesiae School sets out to form and transform children through Holistic Education. MES seeks to champion the course of Catholic Education on the production of students who shall be fully equipped with knowledge, skills, Christian and moral values for their personal and achievement for the progress of their immediate environment, the church, the country and the human society at large especially, the poor and the vulnerable for the greater glory of God.
